This is a research-based review. Specs are verified against EcoFlow's official US product pages — we do not claim hands-on testing.
The EcoFlow River 2 Pro sits in the sweet spot for portable power: 768Wh of LiFePO4 capacity and 800W of AC output in a box that weighs just 18.2 lbs. It is big enough for a full weekend of camping electronics, a CPAP overnight, or keeping lights, Wi-Fi and phones alive through an outage — and it recharges from a wall outlet in 70 minutes, faster than almost anything else in its class.
If you are comparing it with EcoFlow's newer generation, our EcoFlow River 3 Plus review shows what the newer 286Wh model does differently, while this River 2 Pro remains the better pick when you simply need more watt-hours per dollar.

What Makes the River 2 Pro Stand Out
70-minute full recharge
With 940W of AC input, the River 2 Pro goes from empty to full in 70 minutes — EcoFlow rates that as about 5x faster than typical portable stations. For outage prep and last-minute trips, that speed matters more than almost any other spec: you can top it up while you pack.
LFP battery built for a decade
The LiFePO4 cells are rated for 3,000 cycles to 80%+ capacity. EcoFlow translates that to roughly 10 years of regular use — about six times the cycle life of older lithium-ion stations. The River 2 series was also the first portable power station line to earn TÜV Rheinland safety certification, backed by a battery management system that monitors voltage, current and temperature.
800W output, 1,600W with X-Boost
The 800W continuous rating covers laptops, TVs, mini-fridges, power tools and most kitchen small appliances. X-Boost lets it run resistive loads up to 1,600W — EcoFlow says that covers up to 80% of high-wattage home appliances, such as an electric kettle or hair dryer, though runtimes on those loads will be short from 768Wh.
Four ways to charge
AC wall charging, solar (up to 220W), car charging (100W), and USB-C (100W). With a 220W panel, EcoFlow quotes 4.5 to 9 hours to full depending on sun — which is why this model keeps appearing in our best portable power stations for camping shortlists for off-grid weekends.
What Can It Run? Realistic Runtimes
Using the standard 85% usable-capacity estimate for inverter losses (768Wh × 0.85 ≈ 653Wh usable):
- Phone (11Wh): about 55+ charges
- Laptop (50–60Wh): about 10 charges
- Wi-Fi router (10W): about 60 hours
- LED light (10W): about 60 hours
- CPAP (40W, no heated humidifier): about 16 hours — see our CPAP overnight sizing guide for the full math
- Mini fridge (50–80W cycling): roughly 10–20 hours depending on duty cycle
- TV (100W): about 6.5 hours
- Electric kettle (1,500W via X-Boost): short bursts only — minutes, not hours
For a full-size home refrigerator during a longer outage, step up in capacity — our EcoFlow Delta 2 review covers the 1,024Wh class. The River 2 Pro is an essentials-and-portability play, not a whole-home backup.

Pros and Cons
Pros
- Fastest-in-class 70-minute AC recharge
- Long-life LFP battery: 3,000 cycles, 5-year warranty
- Light for its capacity at 18.2 lbs, with 11 output ports
- <30ms EPS switchover for routers, CPAP and other essentials
- Wi-Fi/Bluetooth app control and quiet, fume-free indoor use
Cons
- Not expandable — 768Wh is all you get
- 220W solar input is modest next to 1kWh-class stations
- No waterproofing; fan noise can reach up to 62 dB under heavy charge/discharge per EcoFlow
- EPS is not a true online UPS for sensitive medical or server gear
Who Should Buy the River 2 Pro?
Buy it if you want one portable station for camping, road trips and short outages, and you value fast recharging and a battery that will last a decade. It also earns its place in our best budget portable power stations under $500 guide because the street price sits well under that line for 768Wh of LFP capacity. If you need less weight and a smaller footprint, compare the newer generation in our River 3 Plus vs Jackery Explorer 300 Plus comparison. If you need to run a full fridge, sump pump or power tools all day, move up to a 1–2kWh station instead.
FAQ
How long does the River 2 Pro take to charge?
About 70 minutes from a wall outlet (940W AC input). Solar with a 220W panel takes about 4.5–9 hours in good sun, car charging and USB-C are 100W and take most of a day.
Can the River 2 Pro run a CPAP overnight?
Yes. At a typical 40W draw without heated humidity, expect roughly 16 hours from a full charge — comfortably one to two nights. Turning off heated humidification and tube heating extends runtime significantly.
Can it run a refrigerator?
It can run a mini-fridge or a modern efficient full-size fridge for several hours thanks to its 800W output, but 768Wh is not an all-day fridge solution. Size up to 1kWh+ for overnight fridge backup.
Is the River 2 Pro expandable?
No. Unlike the DELTA series, the River 2 Pro does not accept extra batteries. If expandability matters, look at the DELTA 2 or DELTA 2 Max.
What is X-Boost?
EcoFlow's X-Boost mode lets the inverter run resistive heating loads up to 1,600W by managing voltage. It works for kettles, hair dryers and similar appliances, but not for every motor or electronics load, and high-wattage use drains the battery quickly.
How long will the battery last over the years?
The LFP pack is rated for 3,000 full cycles to 80%+ capacity — roughly 10 years of regular use under EcoFlow's usage assumptions — and it is covered by a 5-year warranty.
Verdict
The EcoFlow River 2 Pro is still one of the easiest sub-1kWh stations to recommend in 2026: 768Wh of decade-life LFP capacity, honest 800W output, and a 70-minute recharge that removes most battery anxiety. It is not expandable and its solar input is modest, but for camping, CPAP backup and short outages at around $389 as of October 2026, it hits the value brief squarely.
